Vierzehn von 19 Millionen Wahlberechtigten des insgesamt 23,5 Mio. Einwohner z\u00e4hlenden Inselstaats gaben ihren Stimmzettel ab. Es war bereits die siebte demokratische Pr\u00e4sidentschaftswahl seit der Aufhebung des Kriegsrechts 1987 und der damit einhergehenden schrittweisen Demokratisierung Taiwans.<\/p>\n<p>Die ersten freie Wahl Taiwans &#8211; und damit die erste direkte Wahl eines Staatsoberhaupts auf chinesischem Boden \u00fcberhaupt &#8211; fand 1996 statt. Das Rennen machte damals die Guomindang (KMD), die Partei des Milit\u00e4r- und Nationalistenf\u00fchrers Chiang Kai-shek.<\/p>\n<p>Die folgende Wahl im Jahr 2000 gewann die oppositionelle Demokratische Fortschrittsspartei (DPP). Das Wahlergebnis zog einen Schlussstrich unter die bis dahin fast 40 Jahre w\u00e4hrende Alleinherrschaft der KMD. Die n\u00e4chsten 16 Jahre regierten beide Lager im Wechsel f\u00fcr jeweils zwei Amtszeiten (DDP 2000-2008 \/ KMD 2008-2016).<\/p>\n<p>2016 kandidierte mit Tsai Ing-Wen (DPP) dann erstmals eine Frau f\u00fcr das Amt des Staatsoberhaupts. Die Juristin gewann die Wahl, regierte eine Amtszeit und stellte sich vier Jahre sp\u00e4ter erneut f\u00fcr die Demokratiche Fortschrittspartei zur Wiederwahl.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Pr\u00e4sidentschaftswahl am 11. Januar 2020<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Die Ergebnisse der Pr\u00e4sidentschaftswahl 2020 in Taiwan:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tsai Ing-wen (DPP): 8,17 Mio. Stimmen (57,1%)<\/li>\n<li>Han Kuo-yu (KMD): 5,52 Mio. Stimmen (38,6%)<\/li>\n<li>James Soong (People First Party): 608,590 Stimmen (4,3%)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Die Wahlbeteiligung lag offiziellen Angaben zufolge bei 74,9%. Mit dem klaren Sieg \u00fcber ihren Peking-freundlichen Herausforderer Han gewinnt Amtsinhaberin Tsai Ing-wen die <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/graphics\/2020-taiwan-election-results\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pr\u00e4sidentschaftswahl 2020 <\/a>und tritt somit ihre zweite und damit letzte Amtszeit an. Frau Tsai d\u00fcrfte sich in ihrem China-kritischen Kurs best\u00e4tigt f\u00fchlen.<\/p>\n<p>In ihrer Rede nach dem Wahlerfolg dankte sie allen W\u00e4hlerinnen und W\u00e4hlern, unabh\u00e4ngig von Parteipr\u00e4ferenzen. Die Taktik der DPP, \u00c4ngste zu sch\u00fcren und zu tricksen, sei wieder einmal aufgegangen.
